What is a website speed test?
A website speed test measures how quickly a web page loads and renders in a browser. It evaluates Core Web Vitals (the metrics Google uses as ranking signals), including Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS), First Contentful Paint (FCP), and Time to First Byte (TTFB). Slow-loading pages increase bounce rates, reduce conversions, and hurt search rankings. A speed test identifies specific bottlenecks (unoptimized images, render-blocking resources, slow server response). Visual Sentinel's free speed test runs a Lighthouse audit and returns performance scores with pass/fail indicators based on Google's thresholds.
