What is a website speed test?
A website speed test measures how quickly a web page loads and renders in a browser. It reports loading and responsiveness lab metrics, including Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS), First Contentful Paint (FCP), and Time to First Byte (TTFB). LCP and CLS are Core Web Vitals; Interaction to Next Paint requires interaction or field data and is not measured by this one-load result. Slow-loading pages can increase bounce rates and reduce conversions. A speed test highlights broad bottlenecks (unoptimized images, render-blocking resources, slow server response). How do I test my website speed?
Enter a public URL above. Visual Sentinel requests a fresh phone-connection speed test through Google PageSpeed Insights and shows the performance score, LCP, FCP, CLS, TTFB, Total Blocking Time, and Speed Index. A run commonly takes 10 to 30 seconds.
What is a good website performance result?
The result cards label each measured lab metric against published performance thresholds. For example, LCP at or below 2.5 seconds, CLS at or below 0.1, and TTFB at or below 0.8 seconds are shown as good. Interaction to Next Paint requires interaction or field data and is not reported by this one-load test.
How can I improve my LCP?
Start with the largest above-the-fold image or text block. Compress and correctly size the LCP image, give the true LCP image high fetch priority, remove unnecessary render-blocking CSS and scripts, preload only critical fonts, and reduce server response time. Re-run the test after each change so you can compare the measured LCP and TTFB.
Why can two speed-test runs differ?
This tool requests a fresh phone-connection speed test from Google PageSpeed Insights. Results can vary as network conditions, server load, caches, third-party scripts, and page content change. The PageSpeed Insights interface can also show Chrome UX Report field data separately from the single lab run returned here.
Is the website speed test free for commercial use?
Yes. No signup is required and you may test commercial sites. To keep the public tool fair and available, each IP address is limited to 10 requests per minute.
