About Apple Pay
Apple Pay is the contactless payment and wallet service across iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac, covering in-store tap-to-pay (NFC), web checkout (Safari + third-party browsers), Apple Cash (P2P transfers), Apple Card integration, and Express Transit for subway/bus payments. Is Apple Wallet down if Apple Pay is down?
Not necessarily. Wallet passes stored on the device can remain visible while Apple Pay authorization or Apple Cash has an incident. Check the separate product rows on Apple System Status. A physical payment card remains the safest fallback when a tap fails.
Is Apple Pay still down?

Why is Apple Pay declined even though my card works in-store?
Apple Pay adds a Device Account Number token layer on top of your card. A token-validation outage (Apple side) or a tokenised-transaction outage (bank side) rejects the tap even though the physical card works. Fall back to the physical card while the service recovers.
Does Apple Pay still work offline if Apple Pay is down?
In-store tap-to-pay can sometimes succeed offline if the terminal accepts offline EMV auth, but most transit and online use cases require live service. During a confirmed Apple Pay outage, using the physical card or another payment method is the reliable fallback.
